Photography: Fallen Princesses
I absolutely love this stunning series of photos by the very talented Dina Goldstein and how they challenge the classic fairy tale stereotype of the Disney princesses.
Dina has also just posted about a new project called In The Dollhouse taking a peek inside the 'real life' of Barbie and Ken. Be warned, it's not as blissful as you may think ;)

Books I Love: Something Borrowed
My oh my am I flying through books now that I'm spending a lot of time travelling around London in search of our next flat!
Since my last book post, I've read another two books! At least one of my goals is going to plan... I think I'll tackle the Spanish book next ;)
I had to tell you about Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. I'm not usually one to go for the girly girl book, but this one I could not put down. Glued to my nose until the end! It's about two long-time best friends, one of which thinks the world revolves around her and has everything and the other who has always put her best friend first and feels like she has nothing as her 30th birthday fast approaches. It all changes on her birthday night, but for the better or the worse, it's not clear at first. I don't want to give much away as it is such a good read, full of drama and the type of people I'd run away from in real life :) I couldn't help rooting for the heroine despite some of her questionable decisions! If you give it a shot, let me know what you think ;)
PS I just ordered the sequel 'Something Blue' and found that there is a film version! Consider it on high priority from Lovefilm ;)

Linked Up!
Here are a few links I've been loving lately. I seem to be getting more and more interested in natural products, health and sustainable living (thank you Mrs. Kingsolver!).
Do you know what is lurking in your sun lotion? Eek!
Are your favourite cosmetics comprimising your health? Check the EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetic Database to find out! I was shocked to see the database's conclusion on my current foundation, maybe that's why my skin is constantly breaking out?
I'm a vegetarian but I don't necessarily believe that everyone should be a vegetarian. I think we should treat animals as kindly as possible and use sustainable organic farming methods. There are too many cruel practices in the world and I hope that the situation improves and quickly. I'm working my way through this eco veg living bible, I imagine it will open my eyes even further to what is really going on in our world.

Books I Love: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Hello!
In amongst the frantic flat hunting and working some crazy hours, I've managed to indulge myself in one of my favourite hobbies, reading. Ok, by indulging I mean using my train commute and time while waiting for estate agents... I have been using these little quiet moments to briefly lose myself in an incredible book. It is written by the wonderfully inspiring Barbara Kingsolver and her family and is not only the story of their year of eating only locally-produced food (most of which is grown and raised by their own hand) but it is also jam-packed with seasonal recipes and information about the food industry. It really is eye-opening and made me feel a new respect for farmers and their way of living. It's a perfect balance of adorable family tales with hard-hitting facts. I'm now craving some garden space ;) Imagine being able to grow your own salad, freshly picking it for dinner... yum! I'm looking forward to trying out some of the recipes too :) I'll let you know how I get on!

Instagramed! Life Lately
I've been kept out of trouble lately by aggressively flat hunting and working ridiculous hours... BIG SAD FACE!
So in order to say hello and update my blog, here are a few Instagrams I prepared earlier... Sorry about the small size, I think Instagram recently had an update and now I can't seem to be able to make the size larger when I email them to myself!

Instagramed! Flat Photos
Hello there :)
We moved into our flat in December, about a week before Christmas and it has been our first proper home together. We'd lived together before but in a shared flat with four other people so we wanted it to be really special. And it has been :) However, our rented flat is now being sold and we have to move again, D'OH! We haven't yet been given our two months notice as they're still going through the sale proceedings but they have accepted an offer so now we're just playing the waiting game and looking for our next new home...
I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite things in our flat :)
Mirrored jewellery box bought in Edinburgh
Vintage gaming console complete with Sonic the Hedgehog ;)
Dragonfly lamp thrifted on Brick Lane
Wardrobe decoration
Home sweet home! Doorstop which doesn't quite keep the door open but looks pretty anyway :)

Televisual Treats: Supernatural
Supernatural is my favourite television show of all time (so far!). Season 8 will premiere on October 3rd and I couldn't be more excited! I first caught the show on the second episode of season one as it was airing for the first time in the UK back in 2006 and it made my first real relationship break-up remarkably easy ;) Who needed a rubbish boyfriend who played Playstation all the time when I could spend an hour watching two incredibly hot guys fighting spooky stuff each week?! Not me!
The show revolves around two brothers who spend their lives on the road hunting all the things your parents told you never existed. You know, ghosts, demons, vampires, werewolves, wendigos, witches, evil clowns, etc etc. That's right people, these creatures are real! They start out searching for their father who went missing on a hunt and seven seasons later they're still out saving the world. The stories have evolved from their 'monster of the week' beginnings into something incredible. I really don't want to spoil it for you, you have to find out for yourself ;)
What I love about this series is the mix of horror and comedy. The show is genuinely scary and grossly gory enough to satisfy most horror lovers. But yet it still manages to make me laugh until I cry. The quips and one-liners get me every time. And I have shed many sad tears over the characters too. I can't even tell you how much I love this show!
If you haven't yet seen it, please do watch it and let me know what you think! Watch it from the beginning though, every season is a cracker :)
